Bush Search and Rescue Victoria
Volunteer search and rescue in Victorian bush and alpine regions
Sunday, 5th May saw a gathering of past as well as current members and others who have been associated with this volunteer organisation, commemorate 75 years of service to the Victorian community. The event was supported by Bushwalking Victoria and attended by representatives from Victoria Police.
There would have been 74 people attending, but a search call out the evening before had several members responding and searching instead.
6 February 2024 Members of the YHA Bushwalkers enjoyed a presentation about BSAR by search veteran Ross McKinnon at their February meeting. YHA Bushwalkers is one of many outdoor clubs that provide BSAR with experienced volunteers. Thanks to YHA Bushwalkers for the invitation to present.
BSAR joined over twenty emergency services at the 2023 Emergency Services Expo in Jamieson on Sunday 23rd April. Our participating members found this a rewarding experience, both as an opportunity to explain BSAR’s role to the public and as an opportunity to meet and learn from members of other emergency service agencies.
BSAR wishes to thank the Expo organisers for providing this opportunity.
The Emergency Services Expo is on again, this time in Jamieson on 23rd April 2023. BSAR is participating alongside 22 other emergency service organisations. See here for event details. All are welcome.
*** NOTE: Unfortunately this year’s Backcountry Festival is unable to be held at Mount Hotham due to extended COVID-19 restrictions.
The Mansfield Emergency Service Expo on Sunday 13 October 2019 provided an opportunity to meet local Police, Firefighters, Paramedics, SES and BSAR members.
